The ministry will host the Lenten series

McALISTERVILLE – McAlisterville Ministry to host slow worship series “Questions in the Desert.” Due to COVID, the service will be recorded and streamed on the McAlisterville Ministerium Facebook page at 7 p.m. each day (www.facebook.com/mcalistervillemin)

March 2 — Graham Fowler of Lost Creek/McCoysville Presbyterian will preach on “What have we done?” This service will include the Rite of Ashes.

March 6 — David McElwee of East Salem Otterbein United Methodist Church will preach on “Will God show up?”

March 13 — Perry Munro of Pine Grove/McAlisterville United Methodist Church will preach on “Where does God lead? »

March 20 — Kevin Brophy of Browns/St. John’s United Methodist Church will preach on the theme “Are we there yet?”

March 27 — Dave Gingrich of the Delaware Mennonite will preach on “What am I looking at? »

¯3 April — Karen Ward of Trinity Lutheran will preach “What is in my heart? »

¯April 10 — Jodi Strawser of Pass the Salt Ministries will preach on “How can I get clean? »

April 15 – Terry Smith of Free Spring Church of the Brethren will lead a Good Friday service, answering the question “What will feed my faith?

Dates set for men’s Lenten breakfasts

PORT ROYAL — Port Royal Men’s Lenten Pray Breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. each Saturday in the Port Royal Community Building. A $5 fee will be charged for breakfast to cover the meal. The speakers will be:

March 5 — Mr. Ken Kitzmiller, retired pastor

¯12 March — Rev. Jeff Henry, Lighthouse Community Church

March 19 — LeRoy Yoder, Shade Mountain Fellowship

March 26 — Reverend Nicholas Smith, Stony Run Mission

April 2 — Garrick Paden, Youth Pastor Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church

April 9 — Sam Leister, Messiah Lutheran Church

April 16 — Don Walters, Thompsontown Methodist Church.

The ministry will host prayer services

LEWISTOWN – Prayer services, sponsored by the Lewistown Ministry, are scheduled for midday Wednesdays during Lent at local churches in Lewistown for the general public, to inspire spiritual renewal and union with Christ in preparation for Easter. Services will be in person, in the church, lasting approximately half an hour, with scripture readings and a sermon delivery. No lunch will be served. The schedule is as follows:

March 9 — First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third Street

¯ March 16 – Lewistown Presbyterian, 17 E. Third Street

¯ March 23 – St. Mark’s Episcopal, 21 S. Main Street

March 30 — Sacred Heart of Jesus, 106, rue N. Dorcas

¯ April 6 — St. John’s Lutheran, 120 N. Main Street.

April 25 — Stations of the Cross inside the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 106 N. Dorcas Street, Lewistown, guided by clergy from the Lewistown Ministerium. At noon, a “Crosswalk” will begin on the steps of the Church of the Sacred Heart, with participants taking turns carrying a large wooden cross through the streets of Lewistown, and stopping periodically in front of various government and service centers (courthouse, jail, United Way, firefighters, etc.) with designated leaders praying aloud for the services and constituents of those associated with these centers. All are invited to participate.

Watts Memorial will host Lenten programs

BELLEVILLE — Watts Memorial United Methodist Church, 38 Walnut Street, Belleville, will host the following speakers:

March 13 — 9 am John Waddel, recent director of Meals on Wheels and Mennonite Central Committee Thrift and Gift Ministries;

March 20 — 9 a.m. Kevin Dellape, director of Back Yard Christian Family Ministries in Pennsylvania;

March 27 — 9 a.m. Cindy Mansberger, executive director of Crossroads Pregnancy Center Outreach Ministry in central Pennsylvania.
